This is my 9th Song for the October.
This one is equally inspired by the short tale “The Body” by Stephen King as well as Simon Stålenhag’s Artwork for “Tales from the Loop”.
I think the Main Melody has this uncanny timbre with its slightly off-tune which sounds a bit like a broken toy. So far for Stålenhag…
I think the melody and underlying harmonisation represents the themes of Stephen Kings story as well. The Melody obviously represents childhood, then at first, the underlying harmony is in major, and later shifts to a minor key, without changing the melody. This represents the loss of childhood. The kids are still the same, but something changed, and the world suddenly looks bleaker.
In the end, the piece loses itself in ambience, which represents the eventual passing into adulthood.
Pretty wild, I know… it’s also the longest piece this month so far, so yeah…
